John blogs ...
Breakfast of cornflakes (lovely), fond farewell to Ayesha (who’s got a cold, as has Anouk) and Ravana (who loves my digital camera) to meet with the team at Queens Hotel for 7.30. Leave at 8.00 for Colombo with 4 very tired women with heads rocking as they catch some zzzz. Overcast morning and a chance to catch up on the blog, Conference presentation and editing some photos. This notebook has been a godsend for travelling and I’d highly recommend it to any travellers.
Stopped halfway for a break, coffee and drinks and mildly surprised at the modern, clean little café we found. Closer to Colombo we got caught in traffic and arrived at Lanka Hands very tired from our 4 hour drive. All we want is some rest – and fortunately Colombo East’s Club president – Cristantha – is very understanding of our needs. So it’s a quiet afternoon with our hosts and we’ll all meet tonight for dinner. Phew.
I’m looking forward to meeting Krish and his wife, Angu, and having met his smiling maid Sheela and Krish's mother (Auntie) it bodes well for the next four days that I’m staying here.
